More about Ludothèque
The Ludothèque Planet'Jeux, located at 10 rue de Funay in Le Mans, lends families, professionals, and local authorities a collection of more than 3,000 games and toys, which can be borrowed like books from a library. On site, up to thirty people can play together, supervised by a team that also offers creative activities, workshops, and game nights open to ages 12 and up.
Beyond its Le Mans location, the nonprofit runs mobile play routes through different neighborhoods of the city, bringing play closer to residents, and provides documentation on play practices for early childhood and recreation professionals. Groups (child-care centers, schools, social service organizations) are welcomed by appointment on Thursdays and Fridays.
A bit of history
The nonprofit Ludothèque Planet'Jeux was founded on October 1, 1990, under the French 1901 law on associations, with a first location at 4 rue Bossuet in Le Mans. For more than three decades, it has enlivened local life and fostered social ties through play in all its forms, a mission it now pursues from its current address at 10 rue de Funay.
Recognized as a nonprofit in the City of Le Mans's directory of associations, it is the main game library serving the Le Mans area, combining game lending, on-site play, and outreach activities in the neighborhoods.
