More about Maison Graphique
La Maison Graphique is a space dedicated to graphic arts, opened in 2025 at 90 rue Nationale: a street-facing storefront, an exhibition space, a risograph printing workshop, and an education and outreach space, open to everyone, including people with reduced mobility.
The idea behind the place has two parts. Creative residencies, in which an invited artist spends a week working with the workshop's duplicator and scanner; then exhibitions built around an aesthetic "you don't see everywhere," on the edge of abstraction, photography, typography, and color work. Each exhibition comes with an education session: school classes come to see the show and then learn risograph printing.
Alongside the exhibitions, the workshop offers micro-publishing training and, about once a month, a risograph introductory workshop with online registration: in the morning a parent-and-child session, in the afternoon open to all from age 10. The RisoCrew also gathers a small group on Tuesday evenings, ten sessions from late September to early December, to learn the technique over time. Dates are posted on the Maison Graphique website and Instagram.
During exhibitions, the storefront also comes alive at night: fluorescent inks react to black light, and a timer switches it on at nightfall.
A bit of history
The riso_éticc risograph workshop was founded in Le Mans in 2021, on place d'Alger, then moved to the Créa'Lab. Gwenaëlle, who prints artists' projects there, comes from public and cultural communications, a field she has worked in for nearly twenty years. That is where the RisoCrew begins: each year, artists from Le Mans and from another city, Brussels, Nantes, and then Rennes, are invited to produce an image and put together a group exhibition for one evening.
In 2025, the workshop moved to 90 rue Nationale and became the Maison Graphique, a place with a storefront, open to the public. The second season opens on September 23, 2026 with "The Yellow Grid," the first solo exhibition by Rennes-based artist Macula Nigra, whom the RisoCrew met two years earlier, along with a micro-publication printed on site during a July residency.
