More about Piscine des Atlantides

The Atlantides aquatic center, located on avenue de Volos in Le Mans, offers about 2,400 m² of swimming areas. It includes a sports hall with a lap pool, a learn-to-swim pool, and a diving well, plus a leisure hall with a wading pool, an 80-meter water slide, and a leisure pool with a bubble bath.

Outdoors, open from June through August as well as some weekends in May and September depending on the weather, the center has a wave pool, a current river, and a six-lane slide. A wellness area completes the complex with a jacuzzi, sauna, hammam, and fitness room. The Atlantides offer swimming lessons, aqua-gym sessions (including prenatal aqua-gym), and aqua-bike classes, and together with the Ardriers pool, are one of the two public aquatic facilities run by the City of Le Mans.

A bit of history

The Atlantides aquatic center opened in 2002. According to Le Mans Métropole, the facility was the subject of a renovation project included among municipal investments partly funded by European grants; however, the precise details (dates and exact scope of the work) could not be confirmed from the sources consulted in detail, as the corresponding page was not fully accessible at the time of research.

Since it opened, the facility has operated year-round for its indoor areas, with seasonal opening of its outdoor pools in the summer, a principle unchanged since its creation.
