More about Spaycific'Zoo
Spaycific'Zoo is a landscaped zoo in Spay, about ten kilometers southwest of Le Mans. Its varied collection includes primates, cats, canids, marsupials, rodents and hoofed animals among the mammals, plus parrots, waders, pheasants and waterfowl, as well as reptiles, amphibians, invertebrates and farm animals.
The zoo has eleven thematic aviaries and enclosures for immersive viewing: Asian, South American, African and Oceanian areas, a lemur enclosure, and a wallaby and kangaroo area. Beyond the visit, it offers close encounters with the animals, “zookeeper for a day” experiences, an educational farm, and packages for school groups and companies. On site: quick-service food, a gift shop, facilities for people with reduced mobility, and bike parking.
A bit of history
The Spay zoo opened its doors in 1989. Spread over eight hectares, it now houses more than 1,000 animals and 150 species, in about a dozen immersive enclosures and a “Zooludique” trail. The site is separate from the Arche de la Nature, whose grounds also extend into the commune of Spay, a frequent source of confusion. It holds the Tourisme & Handicap and Accueil Vélo labels and is a member of the AFdPZ.
