Je préfère qu'on reste amis

“Je préfère qu'on reste amis” is a romantic comedy by Laurent Ruquier, built around one fateful line that should never have been spoken: “I'd rather we stay friends.” Claudine doesn't want to hear it, least of all from Valentin, because that very night she had planned to confess her love to him. What follows is a tangle of misunderstandings and missed meetings, mixing laughter, tenderness, and romantic twists in the great tradition of boulevard romantic comedy.

The script is by Laurent Ruquier, a TV host and author well known to the public, familiar with popular comedies that blend situational humor and romantic chaos. The show plays with the codes of modern marivaudage: an “I love you” that never comes at the right moment, cascading mix-ups, and romantic tension kept up to the very end.

Running 1 hr 15 min, this family comedy (ages 12 and up) plays from December 14, 2026 at the Comédie Le Mans, 37 rue Nationale. The booking calendar on billetreduc shows other possible dates through the end of December 2026, to be confirmed when you book.

The hall, wheelchair accessible, offers an intimate space of about 170 seats, ideal for this kind of romantic comedy that thrives on closeness with the audience. An evening for fans of light comedy, with genuine laughs and a little pang in the heart.
