More about Esplanade du Bourg d'Anguy
The Esplanade du Bourg d'Anguy is an open public space on avenue Charles de Gaulle, at the foot of the Tour Émeraude, one of the tallest towers in the Sarthe. This clear space occasionally hosts outdoor events, including the “Mensuelle du livre et du vinyle,” a monthly market for used books and vinyl records that brings together sellers and treasure hunters. Its location, right next to the Tour Émeraude residence and the Bourg d'Anguy neighborhood, makes it a place where residents of the area pass through and meet.
A bit of history
The esplanade takes its name from the neighborhood and the Allée du Bourg d'Anguy that border it. Research has not documented precisely the origin or date of the esplanade's layout. The Tour Émeraude, its visual landmark, is well documented, however: this 49-meter-tall tower was built in 1976 to originally house fifteen floors of offices. Sold in 2005, it was later renovated and converted into 70 apartments, becoming a residential building that now overlooks the esplanade.
