Le Scarron welcomes one of the rising voices of New York jazz, the young Haitian-American singer Tyreek McDole. Age 24 and from Florida, he trained at the prestigious Oberlin Conservatory under mentors such as Gary Bartz and Billy Hart. Named best vocalist at the Essentially Ellington competition in 2018, he also won first prize at the Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition in November 2023, becoming only the second man to take that title in the competition's twelve-year history. Opening the show, the duo et.nu brings together Swiss singer-songwriter Lea Maria Fries, who straddles jazz and experimental rock, and French bassist Julien Herné, much in demand for his architectural sound textures. This minimalist two-voice format promises an intimate, unfiltered musical experience. See you Thursday, November 19 at 8:30 PM, with free seated admission.
